Objectives

Each student-engineer may apply for validation of the skills, knowledge and abilities he or she has acquired through the following activities:
⁃ voluntary activity within an association,
⁃ activity promoting the school or establishment,
⁃ involvement in the service of the school or establishment,
⁃ professional activity,
⁃ military activity in the operational reserve,
⁃ volunteer firefighter commitment,
⁃ civic service,
⁃ volunteering in the armed forces,
⁃ participation in the boards of the establishment and schools, other higher education establishments or regional centers for university and school works.

The "Student Involvement" modules, found in semesters 6, 7, 8 and 9, focus on the engineering student's commitment to one or more communities, whether ENSC Bordeaux INP or another external collective (associations, state structures, NGOs, etc.). Among the school's associations, these may include the Junior Entreprise (i2c), the BDE, the BDS, the BDA.
This commitment may also take the form of elective mandates (at school or Bordeaux INP level, or even outside), participation in events to promote the school (open days, trade fairs, etc.) or investment of time in experimental research work carried out at ENSC Bordeaux INP. Students are expected to participate regularly (every year) in experimental studies carried out as part of various projects, particularly those linked to the school's research activities and associated laboratories.

The student's commitment takes place throughout his or her schooling, and can be multiple.
Please note that the same commitment cannot be taken into account in the evaluation of several "Student Commitment" modules. For example, if BDE presidency is taken into account in the "Student Commitment" module for semester 6, it cannot be taken into account in the "Student Commitment" module for semester 7.

Knowledge control

The student-engineer must apply to the Director of Studies for validation of the "Student Commitment" module.

The "Student Involvement" module is assessed by means of a 5-minute video report, which not only summarizes the student's involvement in the project, but also highlights the skills, knowledge and aptitudes he or she has acquired. The student-engineer must appear in the video (in an inset, for example, which need not be present for the entire duration of the video).
This assessment does not result in a mark out of 20, but the module may or may not be validated.

The skills acquired are, for example:
1) Ability to integrate into an organization, to lead and develop it: commitment and leadership, project management, communication with specialists and non-specialists alike...
2) Awareness of industrial, economic and professional issues: competitiveness and productivity, innovation, intellectual and industrial property, compliance with quality and safety procedures...
3) Ability to work in an international context: fluency in one or more foreign languages, security, business intelligence, cultural openness, international experience...
4) Respect for societal values: knowledge of labor relations, environment and sustainable development, ethics...

A student commitment is considered high-level when a student-engineer has defined and recognized duties/missions in the performance of his or her activities.
