Description
The project brings together students from 1A and 2A (typically 8 students, at least as many or more from 1A as from 2A), with different roles around a subject of their choice, validated by the supervisors.
This project introduces engineering students to project teamwork in the school's teaching areas. It enables a handover and transfer of knowledge between classes, multi-disciplinary knowledge exchanges, a broadening of knowledge, as well as intra- and inter-class integration.
The expectations are different.
For 1A: more in documentation, implementation, development and testing.
For 2A: more in identifying the need/problem, engineering, right-sizing the possible concrete action and its added value, steering the teams and managing the project to achieve the agreed objective.
The 1A students must identify a problem and, with their contribution, achieve a concrete objective agreed with the supervisors (pre-study, study or development) that will enable progress to be made on the subject. The 2As are the project leaders, in a position of technical management, they must identify a problem and, with the contribution of the 1A students, concretely achieve an objective agreed with the supervisors (pre-study, study or development) enabling progress to be made on the subject. To do this, they must work together to apply the project management and development techniques studied the previous year, and share their knowledge.

How it works :The TransPromotion project brings together 1A and 2A students (6 to 8 students/project, balance between 1A and 2A) with different roles around a topic of their choice (new, unique, exclusive project, possibility of collaborating with clients outside ENSC). The aim is to work as a team on a concrete subject and deliver a detailed study (problem, need, approach, solution). Progress is monitored by means of deliverables and/or a project management tool, and by meetings attended by the supervising teachers. A presentation of the role of the 2As in TransPromotion projects and project management tools will be given at the very beginning of the semester (2h class).
A/ A summary document specifying the main objectives and participants is validated by the supervisors, announcing the planned work contract (milestones, deliverables).
B/ An interim progress review is carried out at each
(1) an 8-minute oral presentation (face-to-face or distance learning) (including time to load the presentation file), followed by a short discussion (on form) led by the teachers and any comments sent by e-mail and
(2) peer evaluation (1 group evaluates 2 projects) using a skills evaluation grid.
C/ The project is evaluated by a jury
(1) on the basis of a deliverable comprising a video review and a summary technical report;
(2) a final oral presentation (approx. 15 minutes, followed by a discussion) by 2 randomly selected presenters (1 1A student and 1 2A student).
Grading: by group (*) in first session
Grading by evaluation of all services and deliverables (attendance mandatory).
Note: (*) in the event of disparity in group involvement, the jury may award an individual assessment. There is no second session for this module. Justified absences validated in accordance with the regulations will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis by the teachers and the jury.
Further information
First experience of project-team work for 1A students in a mixed 1A and 2A team. The subject is proposed by the 2As and validated by the supervisors, so the 1As have to apply for the proposed projects. They are then recruited by the 2As, who manage the project. The 1As have a research and production role.
