Description
The aim of this module is to perfect English language skills. As engineering students are required to obtain a B2 level (independent user) in the TOEIC test (Test Of English for International Communication) before graduating from ENSEGID, the 1st semester is entirely devoted to preparing for this test (minimum score 785).
The official TOEIC test is compulsory at the start of the 2nd semester. A TOEIC placement test is organized at the start of the 1st semester to determine the level groups. In the 2nd semester, groups are reshuffled according to their TOEIC (official) results.
Syllabus
Emphasis will be placed on TOEIC preparation. Mock TOEIC exams will be organized at the end of each semester.
In the 1st semester, English classes are devoted to oral and written comprehension, with a view to preparing students for the TOEIC exam.
In the 2nd semester, students who have not passed the TOEIC test continue to benefit fully from TOEIC preparation courses (reorganized level groups). The other students practice oral expression (conversations, culture, debates related to the geosciences), which is not covered by the TOEIC. In the 2nd semester, all students are required to read and analyze a scientific article related to the Earth Sciences, and give an oral presentation.
