Description

The aim of this course is to show how Fluid Mechanics is present in a number of manufacturing and materials development processes, and this is the subject of the introductory part of the course. Throughout the course, particular emphasis is placed on the link with cases dealt with by apprentices in the workplace. From an academic point of view, the case of 2D laminar flow is used to introduce the Navier-Stokes equation and simplifying assumptions (Bernoulli, Poiseuille). Next, regular and singular pressure drops are discussed. Finally, the case of flow in porous media with different geometries is discussed (Darcy).
