Description
This in-depth module aims to provide an understanding of the use of bioreactors and microorganisms to develop a bioguidance strategy for the optimal production of cell concentrations or high-value-added metabolites.
At the end of the module, students will be able to:
Acquire an in-depth knowledge of the different culture techniques used in bioreactors
Select a relevant microorganism and adapt a culture technique to achieve optimal production
Apply the knowledge acquired to define and/or optimize a bioguidance strategy using bioreactors.
Teaching hours
- CMLectures14h
- TDTutorial6h
- PRJProject5h
Mandatory prerequisites
common core microbiology S6 to S8
Syllabus
Program:
Introduction to the use of bioreactors
Understanding microbial growth and bioreactions
Monitoring the bioprocess and extracting products of interest
This module may be of interest to students who have chosen the INIMB, BIOTF and other options, and to those who wish to continue in the CBI specialization. It is offered in association with the ANIDD module.
Assessment method:
Team project: Valorization of an agri-food co-product using a bioreactor and a non-pathogenic microorganism to produce a product of industrial interest.
