At the end of the module, students are expected to:
- can describe microbial diversity,
- master the concepts of microorganism metabolism,
- understand the specificities of handling micro-organisms, in terms of work organization, and comply with aseptic handling procedures and instructions.
Teaching hours

- PRACTICAL WORKPractical work16h
Mandatory prerequisites
General notions of microbiology in the final year of science.
Syllabus
Theoretical basis (4 h)
Diversity of the microbial world
Nutrition, metabolism and the effects of major environmental factors
Bacterial growth and measurement methods
Practical work (21.33 h)
The objectives are to familiarize students with a microbiology laboratory, its equipment and its operation; to master the production of complex media and their sterilization; to raise awareness of microbiological risks in the laboratory and experiment with the rules of aseptic handling; to know how to perform an isolation, enumeration and microscopic observation; to know a few keys to the identification of microorganisms.
