Description
On completion of the course, students will be able to take part in the design or diagnosis of a measurement system.
This implies being able to:
describe the general operation of a measurement system,
identify, evaluate and propose the characteristics of a measurement system,
test and validate a measurement system,
engage in constructive dialogue with the various parties involved in a project of this type.
Teachers aim to:
raise awareness of the challenges of industrial measurement,
familiarize students with signal processing methods, and make them aware of their benefits,
help students understand the basic principles of modeling, and make them aware of their benefits.

Mandatory prerequisites
The Instrumentation, Signal Processing and Modelling course in the second year
The digital and IT tools course in the first year
Syllabus
This practical work illustrates the application of the concepts and methods described in class, using instrumented pilot processes connected to computers. Students are provided, in pairs, with a pilot process, a computer with its data acquisition system (Labview software) and MATLAB development software.
The study begins by getting to grips with the process and the measurement chain. Signals are then collected under various conditions, analyzed and processed to characterize and deal with measurement noise, then to characterize the process itself and produce a very simple model. The implementation and validation of correct time sampling completes the proposed methodology, and is also the starting point for practical work on process modeling and control in the following semester.
