Description
On completion of the course, students will be able to take part in the design or diagnosis of a control system.
This implies being able to:
describe the general operation of a control system,
identify and validate a dynamic model of process behavior,
define the parameters of a control system according to expected performance,
test and validate a control system,
engage in constructive dialogue with the various parties involved in a project of this type.
Teachers aim to:
raise awareness of the issues involved in process control,
help students understand the basic principles of modeling and control, and make them aware of their importance,
familiarize students with modeling and control methods and tools.

Second-year courses in instrumentation, signal processing and modeling
Syllabus
It deals with the dynamic control of a manufacturing process. The challenges and requirements of such an approach are explained. Control means measuring, monitoring, forecasting and acting, which requires sensors, information processing, models and controllers.
The notion of dynamic behavior models is discussed. Identification techniques leading to such models (rich databases, parameter estimation algorithms) are described in detail.
Methods for calculating controllers, essentially numerical, ranging from PID to predictive control, are covered, with emphasis on implementation conditions and fields of application rather than theoretical justifications.
