Description
The notion of continuum mechanics is introduced and the kinematics and mechanics of such a medium are studied. Linear elasticity is introduced, with deformation as an application. Newtonian fluid mechanics is introduced, with a few examples of classical flows. Finally, numerical modeling is discussed briefly, but sufficiently to give an overview of numerical calculation and simulation.
