Description
4 x 4-hour practical sessions
Objectives
The aim is to give students a basic understanding of the mechanical behavior of solid media, in terms of deformation and critical behavior (strength of materials, fracture). Practical work is designed both to illustrate the course and to show how a material can be stressed and what the consequences are.
Teaching hours
- PRACTICAL WORKPractical work16h
Mandatory prerequisites
The Continuum Mechanics courses are given during the same semester. They will enable you to understand the phenomena involved in practical work.
Syllabus
Each student will have 4 practical exercises to carry out (4 sessions):
Photoelasticimetry (study of stresses and deformation of beams with variable geometry)
Deformation of a tank subjected to internal pressure,
Tension (study of the deformation of a specimen by tension and study of fracture),
Flexion of an embedded beam (study of the deformation of a material by flexion).
