Description
This à la carte module will enable you to deepen your toxicology skills and apply them to chemical risk assessment procedures. In particular, the analysis of hazards (mainly chemical hazards) and risk assessment procedures linked to their presence in food, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, the environment and the workplace will be mastered.
This module is designed for students wishing to become engineers in an industrial sector where they will be confronted with exposure to chemicals in their research, development or production activities. This module is recommended for the INH, LAI, MIDD, CBI, NMT specializations.
On completion of this module, students should be able to:
- Describe and present the characteristics of the main chemical hazards with recognized effects on health, the environment or the workplace.
- Understand and master the procedures for identifying and characterizing emerging chemical hazards that may present a risk to human health, the balance of eco-systems or working conditions.
- Describe and master the methodologies for establishing toxicological reference values (threshold values) and determining regulatory threshold values.
- Understand the organization and operation of the various assessment agencies involved in risk assessment.
- Analyze and criticize opinions issued by risk assessment procedures.
