Objectives

Converting an electrical signal between the analog and digital domains in data acquisition requires appropriate conditioning. This module will detail the steps required for such signal conditioning prior to analog-to-digital conversion (ADC), e.g. amplifiers, trade filters, anti-aliasing filters, etc. A second part of the module will give a more in-depth look at analog-to-digital converters, with the advantages and disadvantages of the different options studied. A brief introduction to the digital-to-analog converter may also form part of the module. The examples and applications studied during the module will mainly concern biomedical and healthcare systems.
