Description

Modeling and Control of Continuous Dynamic Systems
Automatic control deals with the modeling, analysis and control of processes. It can therefore be applied to a large number of disciplines, including those taught at ENSEIRB-MATMECA. In this context, the aim of the course is to present the fundamental methods for modeling and controlling dynamic systems in continuous time. The course is illustrated by numerous examples enabling the tools studied to be applied.
The 180-page course handout includes:
* Presentation and definition of dynamic systems* State representation of systems* System modeling* Principles of feedforward control * Interest of closed-loop control* Extracting the linear model of systems* Laplace transform, transfer function and properties* Frequency response and re-presentations (Bode, Nichols and Nyquist)* Characterization of first- or second-order systems/models. * Stability analysis of systems and closed-loop systems * Quantification of the degree of stability. * Analysis of a closed-loop control system using sensitivity functions. * Control system performance: accuracy, speed, degree of stability. * Highlight the limitations of all-or-nothing control. * Presentation and analysis of proportional, integral-action and derivative-action controls* Synthesis of a PID-type controller.
4 TD sessions enable you to:
* model systems by representing states and extracting their linear model* calculate and graph frequency responses* determine proportional controllers for different specifications* synthesize a PID-type controller.
