Description

The advanced project in 3rd year telecommunications is designed to give practical experience in the subjects taught in the option.
It takes place during the whole of semester 9, in small groups of 5 or 6 engineering students, depending on the year. One supervised slot is usually reserved for the project. Others can be scheduled.
Projects are supervised by teacher-researchers and, potentially, in collaboration with industrialists from start-ups, SMEs or major groups. Students work on a variety of technical subjects relating to industrial, research-based and/or multidisciplinary issues. Students continue to learn about project management.
Student engineers carry out their project in a special environment known as a fablab or Télécom lab, inspired by the design-centers and innovation centers of partner companies.
It should be noted that this project is sponsored by several major groups, who contribute their project management expertise.
In addition, student engineers work on their interpersonal skills and are required to communicate on their work in different ways and at different stages of the project:

The steering committee: student engineers present the progress of their project to a steering committee halfway through.
Student engineers are also required to write their reports in English, in the form of a two-column scientific paper of several pages. A tutorial session is scheduled so that the language teachers can point out to the students the type of errors they have made. They help them to understand their mistakes and, if necessary, reformulate the paragraphs they have written.
Student engineers also present their work at a 20-minute oral presentation in English, followed by questions, before a jury made up of industrialists, teacher-researchers and representatives from the language resource center. The jury evaluates the presentation in terms of both form and content. The members of the jury deliberate to select the most successful projects in terms of technical execution, project management and valorization.
