Description
The aim of this course is to explore the mechanisms involved in turbulent flows, covering both physical and numerical aspects. The different turbulence models used in industrial codes will be studied, and their advantages and disadvantages will be explained. We will also describe the different types of laws or models for the treatment of near-wall turbulence and their practical implementation. Advanced simulation techniques for turbulent flows will be presented: direct simulation, RANS and large-scale simulation. The contributions of these methods, but also their limitations, will be developed.
