Description

The aim of this course is to lay the foundations of the mechanics of continuous and deformable media, as an introduction to the solid and fluid mechanics courses that follow. The first basics of fluid mechanics and physics will be covered.
I) Statics of continuous mediaThe aim of this part is to introduce the importance of dimensioning in the context of materials and structures, to recall the useful mathematical tools, to introduce the notion of continuous media and to present the fundamental principles of forces, stresses and statics in continuous media.1) Introduction (dimensioning, elementary volume, mathematical tools)2) Forces and stresses (Force - torsor, stress vector, stress tensor, Mohr's representation)3) Statics (Fundamental principle of statics, local equilibrium equations, boundary conditions)II) Fluid statics The aim of this section is to introduce the notions of fluid statics and surface tension in the context of the mechanics of deformable continuous media (MMCD).1) Fluid statics - Notions of fluid in the context of SMCM - Pressure, buoyancy, calculating forces2) Surface tension - Notions of surface tension - Wetting - Laplace's Law
