The two objectives of the fluid mechanics course in semester 8 are
The study of flows near walls and around obstacles
The study of turbulent flows.
This course requires the concepts studied in semester 7, in particular dimensional analysis tools.

Syllabus
Boundary layer, jet and wake approximation - Concept of boundary layer, jet and wake - Prandtl equations - Search for self-similar solutions: Blasius solution, etc. - Integral methods: Pohlhausen solution, etc.
Turbulence - General properties of turbulence - Statistical modeling (RANS), presentation of different models - Turbulent boundary layers.
