Description
This module covers the modeling of network behavior, as well as the various possibilities for evaluating network performance. Network simulation, as a performance evaluation technique, will be highlighted through the use of the NS-2 network simulator. Case studies will be carried out on the performance evaluation of IP networks offering QoS based on the DiffServ model, as well as ad hoc routing protocols.
At the end of this course, students should be able to master the modeling and evaluation of network performance parameters, enabling them to obtain the information they need to make decisions regarding upgrades, modifications and extensions to existing systems, as well as to build the right system to meet the specifications as closely as possible. In addition, this module will give students the opportunity to acquire the skills required for advanced use of the NS-2 simulator.
