Description
Objectives of the module
Acquire basic knowledge of cost accounting through an introduction to cost calculation and the presentation of expenses,
Quantify projects and measure variances
Enable apprentice engineers to acquire the knowledge necessary for calculating and choosing investments: calculate a return on investment and assist in decision-making
Participate in the implementation of activity and steering measures for projects and services (indicators and dashboards).
Module outline
Management control: aims, organization and operation.
Cost accounting: the hourly rate and its use, different costing methods, strategic cost analysis.
Break-even point: the direct costing method, break-even point calculation, meaning and business choices
Full costing: the principle of direct and indirect charges, cost allocation, the notion of work unit and work unit cost, margin and profit.
The different types of investment.
The profitability of an investment: elements of calculation, graphical representation, return on investment.
Managing an activity, a project or a department.
Activity indicators and building a dashboard. How to improve decision-making responsiveness?
