Description
The aim of this module is to deepen and illustrate the principles of networking acquired in the 1st semester. To achieve this, the module draws heavily on the study of the Internet protocol family, a knowledge of which is essential today. Throughout the course, the specific points of this network architecture are analyzed and compared with general principles and other protocol families, such as X25. The module concludes with a series of practical exercises illustrating the main mechanisms described in the course.
Introduction to the Internet v4 protocol family: History, organizations, standardization and vocabulary
Notion of data routing: TCP/IP architecture, IP addressing
Interaction between the Internet v4 protocol family and transmission media: Notion of address resolution (ARP protocol)
Network layer of the Internet v4 and v6 protocol families: Introduction, IP Protocol, ICMP Protocol, IPv6
Transport layer of the internet protocol family: Introduction, UDP Protocol, TCP Protocol
5 practical topics in the experimental room: assembly and configuration of a TCP/IP local network on Ethernet, study of ARP and ICMP protocols, study of TCP and UDP protocols, study of IP routing, study of IP subaddressing, study of IPv6.
