Description

This module offers a multi-disciplinary experience with Fine Arts. Its aim is to enable you to build an innovative project around music, soundscapes and listening devices. The skills brought to bear by each of ENSCBP's AGB and CGP departments, and by the Beaux-Arts master's degree in design, enable you to create projects that are completely different from what they would be without these multidisciplinary exchanges.

Contents

This module is run in conjunction with the Ecole des Beaux-Arts.
The aim of this module is to explore music - the music we listen to, the music we play, the music we invent, the music that accompanies us. The same music gives rise to as many personal stories as there are listeners. It is these links that the module seeks to explore.
Different approaches will be explored in presentations at ENSMAC:
- Acoustics, music and materials (Vincent Gibiat, President of the French Federation of Acoustics)
- Auditory perception (Catherine Semal, ENSC-Neurocampus)
- Marketing and the consumer in music (Maud Derbaix, Kedge)
- The digital piano (Juliette Chabassier, INRIA and Jean Haury)
- The fundamentals of acoustic perception and propagation (Vincent Hedont, acoustics consultancy)
- Music therapy (Karine Lemtai)
- Visit to the SCRIME laboratory (Gaël Jaton)
- Presentation of a research project in electronic music (Artist in residence at SCRIME)
- Snowball project (Julie Laderach, cellist - Samuel Rodriguez, I2M)
- A design approach to music (Teacher at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts)

These presentations will be supplemented by participation in courses at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in the design department, in order to establish contact with students and gain insight into design-related themes.

An innovation project will be worked on by mixed groups of students from the École des Beaux-Arts and ENSMAC during the module. Supervised research sessions will alternate with free research sessions. The project will be presented at the end of the module. Emphasis will be placed on the importance of the project's involvement in society.
