This cross-disciplinary module enables students to enhance their individual second-year IT project, while at the same time making them aware of the differences between written and spoken English.
At the end of the module, students should be able to:

produce a video document to present and enhance their IT project in English, using presentation and technical vocabulary. They must also demonstrate their ability to apply the essential rules of phonetics (pronunciation, intonation, accentuation, etc.).
write an abstract in rich, precise academic English. They must be able to distinguish between written and spoken language.

Part 1: How to write a technical data sheet in English (approx. 13h)

Analysis of a technical data sheet
Understanding the characteristics of written English

Practice and vocabulary acquisition activities

Part 2: Making a video in English (approx. 11h)

Work on phonetics and phonology
Analysis and production of an elevator pitch in front of the class

Communicative and interactive approach based essentially on the acquisition of skills and knowledge, particularly in the specialist language. Students should gain autonomy and linguistic fluency in a professional context.

assessment of the module: the continuous assessment mark will take into account

the production of a 3-minute video document
the mark for active participation (attendance and intermediate work).



Notes:




Students with TOEIC 785 are not exempt from the course. Project grades are based on attendance, class participation, oral presentation and written work.
