Mandatory prerequisites
Request to replace English lessons at ENSC with those of another modern language
Preliminary remarks:
Achieving a TOEIC score of 785 points or more is nothing exceptional, especially for an engineer.
TOEIC is an exam that measures only listening and comprehension skills, and does not take into account other skills, not to mention intercultural skills and the ability to work in an English-speaking environment.
ENSC's English courses are not designed solely to prepare students for TOEIC, but to ensure that students have a sufficient level of English to evolve in today's business world. If this is the case, success on the TOEIC exam is a matter of course.
Conditions for requesting the replacement of English lessons at ENSC by those of another modern language:
When entering ENSC (newcomer in 1A or newcomer in 2A), students wishing to replace English lessons at ENSC by those of another modern language must :
provide a recent TOEIC test with a score of at least 950 points at the start of the academic year
pass an interview with a teacher in charge of English modules at ENSC
pass the TOEIC test (with a score of at least 785) in the first semester of the current academic year (a TOEIC test is organized in Semester 7 as part of the ENSC CO7INAN0 module, generally between late November and early December).
If condition 1 is not met, the application is not accepted.
If condition 1 is verified and condition 2 is not validated, the request will be refused.
If conditions 1 and 2 are verified and condition 3 is not validated, the student will have to reintegrate the ENSC English courses as of the following semester.
Important notes:
The replacement of English modules by those of another modern language is valid for the entire duration of the student's studies at ENSC.
If the student wishes to return to the school's English courses for certain semesters, he/she must make a request before the end of the previous semester to the school's English teachers and the school's administration.
Any request (to replace English courses with those of another modern language) during the course of studies at ENSC will be refused.
The school's administration manages the ENSC's English courses in the timetables. It is therefore up to the student (who replaces ENSC English lessons with lessons in another modern language) to check that the time slots for lessons in this other modern language do not overlap with those for lessons at ENSC.
