Description
This project introduces engineering students to project teamwork in the school's teaching areas. It enables a handover and transfer of knowledge between classes, exchanges of multi-disciplinary knowledge, a broadening of knowledge, as well as intra- and inter-class integration.
The project brings together students from 1A and 2A (typically 6-8 students, as many from 1A as from 2A), with different roles around a subject of their choice validated by the supervisors.
Expectations are different.
For 1A students: more in documentation, implementation, development and testing.
For 2A students: more in the identification of the need/problem, engineering, right sizing of the possible concrete action and its added value, team steering and project management to achieve the agreed objective.
The aim is to identify a problem and, with the contribution of 1A students, concretely achieve an objective agreed with the supervisors (pre-study, study, or development) enabling progress to be made on the subject. The 2As are the project leaders, in a position of technical management, they must identify a problem and, with the contribution of the 1A students, concretely achieve an objective agreed with the supervisors (pre-study, study, or development) enabling progress to be made on the subject. To do this, they will have to apply together the project management and development techniques studied the previous year, and share their knowledge.

Procedure:
The TransPromotion project brings together 1A and 2A students (6 to 8 students/project, balance between 1A and 2A) with different roles around a topic of their choice (new, unique, exclusive project, possibility of collaborating with clients outside ENSC). The aim is to work as a team on a concrete subject and deliver a detailed study (problem, need, approach, solution). Progress is monitored by means of deliverables posted on Moodle and/or a project management tool, and meetings attended by the supervising teachers.
A/ A summary document specifying the main objectives and participants is validated by the supervisors and sets out the planned work contract (milestones, deliverables).
B/ An interim progress report is made at
(1) an 8-minute oral presentation (in-class or remote) (including time for loading the presentation file), followed by a short discussion (on form) led by the teachers and any comments circulated by e-mail and
(2) a peer evaluation (1 group evaluates 2 projects) using a skills evaluation grid.
C/ The project is assessed by a panel of judges
(1) on the basis of a deliverable presenting the results obtained (written document or demonstrator) submitted in advance
(2) at the final oral defense (approx. 15 minutes, followed by a discussion) conducted by 2 presenters chosen at random (1 1A student and 1 2A student).
Grading: by group (*) in first session
Grading by evaluation of all performances and deliverables (attendance compulsory).
Note: (*) in the event of disparity in group involvement, the jury may award an individual assessment. There is no second session for this module. Justified absences validated in accordance with the regulations will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis by the teachers and the jury.
Supervision for project follow-up: teachers from ENSC, other Bordeaux-INP schools, staff from companies hosted by ENSC, part-time employees.
Further information
First experience of project-team work for 1A students in a mixed 1A and 2A team. The subject is proposed by the 2As and validated by the supervisors, so the 1As have to apply for the proposed projects. They are then recruited by the 2As, who manage the project. The 1As have a research and production role.
