Description
The aim of this module is to enable students to learn and practice a modern language (English). As engineering students are required to obtain a B2 level (independent user) in the TOEIC test (Test Of Englishfor International Communication) before completing their studies at ENSEGID, they will be given introductory courses to this test. The 60-hour module is organized over two semesters. A TOEIC placement test is organized at the start of the 1st semester to determine the level of each group. In the 2nd semester, groups are reshuffled according to their results from the 1st semester.
Minimum skills to be acquired: Mastery of the four language skills (reading, writing, listening and speaking), including elements of scientific English relevant to the geosciences.
Teaching hours

Syllabus
Emphasis is placed on grammar and vocabulary. Mock TOEIC tests will be organized at the end of each semester. Part of the course will focus on technical English, appropriate to the different areas of work covered by the geosciences. An Earth Sciences project, with an oral presentation and a short written summary, is scheduled for the 2nd semester.
