Presentation
ENSEGID's training includes all the multi-disciplinary aspects required for environmental management issues, but what really sets it apart is the major part devoted to field placements and applied projects.
ENSEGID offers initial training for an engineering degree in "Environment, Georesources and Sustainable Development Engineering". The school trains multi-skilled engineers in the fields of research, exploitation and sustainable management of natural resources.
The training of ENSEGID engineering students is punctuated throughout the 3-year curriculum by more than 10 weeks of field school and numerous concrete projects that enable engineering students to put into practice the knowledge and skills acquired upstream on a real-life project.
ENSEGID field schools
1st year field schools
The aim of the1st multi-disciplinary field school is to pass on the basics ofnaturalist analysis and to make engineering students aware of the environmental professions. It provides an introduction to geology, ecology and hydrology.
The other field courses are designed to illustrate the ecology, sedimentology and paleontology courses. Excursions to the Arcachon Basin provide an opportunity to analyze the complexity and fragility of a coastal ecosystem, and to visualize the dynamics of a current sedimentary system. They provide a first approach to the problems of coastal development and its impact on both ecosystems and the coastline.
Field schools and2nd year projects
The aim of the project is to put into practice the various theoretical notions acquired by the students.
It is organized around an integrated study of a natural site. Engineering students put into practice the methods and tools they have learned during the semester.
The objectives of the2nd year field schools are :
- Apply the various tools and methods for analyzing carbonate sedimentary systems to a case study of a Dogger shelf in the Aquitaine Basin.
- Carry out stratigraphic, logical sedimentary and structural analysis of a portion of the South Pyrenean foreland basin.
- Implement the various tools and methods for measuring, analyzing and interpreting natural and man-made systems in the field of water sciences, from both a qualitative and quantitative standpoint.
3rd year field schools
Numerous3rd year field placements enable engineering students, depending on the option chosen, to turn their theoretical knowledge into skills.
Depending on the option, these schools are located in Morocco, the Pyrenees, Spain, the Lot and the Aquitaine Basin.
Double diplomas
Double degree in resources and the environment
ENSEGID engineering students can take a 4-year double degree with another public engineering school in the region.

Work-study programs, with a3rd year under a professionalization contract
The "contrat de professionnalisation" is a work-study contract of variable duration (generally 12 months) signed between a company and an engineering student in the final year of the engineering cycle, which combines the acquisition of theoretical knowledge with the acquisition of practical know-how within a company. A work-study contract is signed between the company and the student, who then acquires employee status. This status confers the rights and duties of an employee of the company (remuneration, social protection, pension contributions, paid leave, etc.). Remuneration may not be less than 80% of the minimum wage for young people aged between 21 and 26 (75% of the minimum wage for those under 21).
