Description
The aim of this course is to apply the various tools and methods for analyzing carbonate sedimentary systems to a case study of a Dogger shelf in the Aquitaine Basin.
Minimum skills to be acquired:
Survey a litho-stratigraphic log in the field,
Analyze sedimentary and reservoir facies,
Map sedimentary and reservoir objects,
Define sedimentary environments based on facies criteria, sedimentary structures, biological elements,
Establish a conceptual model of a platform and identify the associated reservoir levels,
Present field work and results orally,
Ability to work in a group and integrate into the group.
Teaching hours
- TDTTutored Field Work20h
Mandatory prerequisites
Geology, sedimentary systems, petrophysics, logging and drilling, geological synthesis, reservoir geology, etc.
Syllabus
Reconstructing the conditions of genesis and early diagenesis of a carbonate platform in the eastern Aquitaine Basin (Dordogne Valley to Lot Valley). The filling mode of a basin in a carbonate platform context, from the Toarcian to the end of the Bathonian.
Processes of sediment genesis and evolution in an oolitic barrier transition internal barrier - internal platform.
Establish the association sedimentation - forms of biological builders in a reef barrier of a carbonate platform
Reconstruct the lateral passage from the open sea to the internal platform edge (barrier) consequences on geomorphology.
