Description

The aim of this module is to train students in communication techniques, taking into account the formal requirements in force in the professional environment. Emphasis is placed on the acquisition of written (report writing, summary notes) and oral (public speaking, power point presentation) communication techniques. Teaching is divided into two phases. In the first stage, the teacher provides a number of rules, guidelines and practical advice on written expression (standardized presentation, citing sources, typographical codes) and oral expression (speech preparation, diction exercises, verbal and non-verbal expression). In a second phase, knowledge is transformed into "know-how" by means of workshop sessions enabling students to give a short presentation in public (with simulation and critical feedback) and to actually write a study report. All exercises are evaluated critically, using a grading grid that incorporates the main criteria for assessing optimal communication. They give rise to individualized feedback, encouraging students to rework their weak points and helping them to become autonomous communicators.
Minimum skills to be acquired:Written communication:- Present a professional document (letter, report, CV, etc.). )- Integrate different sources (graphics, table borders, photographs) in a report- Master word processing (pagination, automatic layout... )Oral communication:- Build an oral presentation (message articulation)- Give a presentation using a video projector- Adapt to the audience and the constraints of the presentation venue (meeting, conference, job interview).
