Description
The aim of this module is to characterize the petrography and geometry of sedimentary reservoirs in three stages: (1) facies analysis (petrography, constituent analysis and analysis of sedimentary structures), (2) study of present-day sedimentary systems, which provide essential depositional models for the study of reservoirs, (3) analysis of the stratigraphic architecture of sedimentary bodies, which results from the succession of depositional systems over geological time under the effect of various factors. This course is based on practical work in sedimentary petrography and biological content recognition, as well as on field schools organized throughout the year.
Minimum skills to be acquired : Acquire the basics of sedimentary geology, with descriptions of rocks and geometries at outcrop scale, necessary for the study of reservoir systems in sedimentary basins.
