Description
Using regional examples, this module presents the main types of hydrogeological systems and their particularities in terms of operation/management/exploitation. In particular, the singularities of flow in fissured/fractured media and of density flow will be addressed
Types of aquifers will be covered:
Sedimentary aquifers
Granitic aquifers
Karst aquifers
Deep aquifers
Coastal aquifers.
Minimum skills to be acquired:
Hydrogeological knowledge enabling the main groundwater resources to be associated with geographical zones in mainland France
Knowledge of the singularities of the physical functioning of the main types of aquifer.
Teaching hours
- CMLectures20h
- TDTutorial10h
Mandatory prerequisites
Core concepts
Syllabus
formulation of the diffusivity equation
special solutions and groundwater testing: Theis, Cooper - Jacob equation
well testing and productivity of production facilities
superposition principle: boundary effects, study of upwelling
flow in unsaturated zones
