The aim of this refresher course is to review or introduce the fundamentals of mechanics on which the Analysis of Fixed Structures, Mechanics of Continuous Media/Resistance of Materials and Mechanical Dimensioning of Deformable Solid Media courses are based. The course is based on simple exercises that enable students to manipulate mechanical links, action torsorsors and the fundamental principle of statics. The example of simple traction is used to make the link between statics and elasticity, and introduces the notion of internal force. The concepts are applied to the case of articulated structures.
