Description
At the end of the course, students will be able to mobilize their knowledge to consider the use of mammalian cells as a final product or as a vector for the production of biomolecules. Faced with a need for biomolecule production, students will be able to integrate the advantages and constraints of the mammalian system in comparison with other systems, in order to choose the most productive host.

Knowledge of the applications of in vitro animal cell culture and its implementation for the production of recombinant cells or proteins:-Establishment of cell lines, constitution and management of cell banks.-Main characteristics of different types of lines (normal, finite, transformed, continuous, clonal).-Adherent cells and cells in suspension. Technical implications at industrial level (molecule production, scale-up, etc.) -Contaminations: origins, prevention and detection - Nutrient requirements, types of media, particularities and implications at industrial level -Critical parameters to be monitored in cell culture (cell concentration, viability, osmolarity, pH, substrate concentration, metabolites or recombinant proteins, etc.) -Transient expression and stable expression of recombinant proteins.
