Description
Bioconversion: design a flow chart to calculate yields at each stage of a production process, establish a material balance.Purification: at the end of the course, students will be able to apply their operational skills in purification on a laboratory and pilot scale, and in characterizing a protein.

Production of an amino acid by bioconversion: enzyme immobilization, purification by frontal filtration, crystallization, quantification by enzymatic assay. Purification of a recombinant protein: from cell to protein, characterization by static and dynamic light scattering, pilot-scale purification.
