Description

Level of knowledge :

N1: beginner
N2: intermediate
N3: advanced
N4: expert

The knowledge (skills) expected at the end of the course

Acquire the basic notions of analog electronics in order to be aware of the use of such components in communications systems (C2, N1).
Acquire basic notions of continuous and discrete signal processing, enabling manipulation and time/frequency analysis of deterministic signals (C2, N1).
Know the basic mathematical concepts needed to implement digital communications on non-frequency-selective channels (C2, N1).
Be aware of the operating principles of digital communications systems used on a daily basis (C2, N1).
Know the concepts needed to characterize the statistical description of random variables (C2, N1).
Acquire the fundamental notions linked to the measurement of information and the coding of a random source (C2, N1).

Learning outcomes in terms of abilities, aptitudes and attitudes expected at the end of the course

Model and program a digital communications chain in Matlab language, evaluating its characteristics and performance in simulation, then comparing them with theoretical developments (C2, N1).
Use digital simulation (Matlab) to implement basic signal processing methods in order to interpret the effects of convolution, fast Fourier transform, etc. (C2, N1).
Implement a signal processing project in a targeted application context (RADAR, biomedical, digital communications, geolocation, etc.) (C2, N1).
