Applied geology option

The aim of this option is to teach the various concepts and methods used to analyze sedimentary systems at different scales, from basin to reservoir. These include sedimentology, sequence stratigraphy and analysis of the tectonic control of sedimentary basin architecture. This naturalistic approach is complemented by geophysical methods, in particular seismic interpretation and seismic stratigraphy.
On a different scale, petrographic and diagenetic analysis methods are used to characterize reservoirs. The applications of sedimentary basin and reservoir analysis are explained through complementary and integrated teaching on sedimentary basin hydrogeology. This option thus comprises 4 teaching modules, all of which are coupled with field schools.
