Description

The aim of this course is to characterize reservoir rocks by detailing the sedimentary geometries and architectures that form these reservoirs.
The microscopic characterization of reservoir rocks will be addressed in particular by taking the example of carbonate reservoirs, and how porosity geometry and fluid circulation over time impact reservoir "quality".

Through industrial examples, this course details the current and future uses of underground reservoirs and the importance of properly characterizing the reservoir and understanding the geological context.

- Water, hydrocarbon and hydrogen production
- Gas storage (natural, hydrogen...)
- Geothermal circulation
- Other applications (Lithium, Helium, Uranium...)
- Impact and associated risks
- The role of the reservoir geologist
